DMV Focused by Anna Yeajin Choi
Hey everyone, welcome back to Focused. To continue the series, Anna Yeajin Choi is capturing the DMV, specifically Georgetown in Washington, D.C.!
Anna sent us some background on herself:
“Hi, I’m Anna Yeajin Choi — a photographer based in the DMV area. My journey in photography began when I was 16, and I later launched AYC Studio during college to build my portfolio. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with brands like Bubble Skincare, Après Beauty, and Ginsa. What started as a side hustle quickly evolved into a growing creative business, thanks to the incredible connections I made along the way.”
Anna went around the Georgetown area, asked some locals questions, and captured them through her lens.
What makes you happy in life? - “Sunshine because the weather is really nice today, and also my friends and family.”
Where do you want to be in five years from today? - “Hopefully married (eyeing her boyfriend), and a house that belongs to us.”
Why are you in the DMV? - “I am visiting from France. I lived here for about a year and loved it, so I am showing my boyfriend around.”
What makes you happy in life? - “My friends and family.”
Where do you want to be in five years from today? - “Hopefully, I will be living in Scotland.”
Why are you in the DMV? - “For college and I love it here.”
What makes you happy in life? - “Spending time with the people I love.”
Where do you want to be in five years from today? - “Still spending time with the people I love.”
Why are you in the DMV? - “It is a great area, because there are a lot of mixed backgrounds and different perspectives.”
What makes you happy in life? - “The warm weather and friends.”
Where do you want to be in five years from today? - “Be with friends and in a career that I enjoy.”
Why are you in the DMV? - “I am in DC for school and I absolutely love it here. I definitely want to explore more in the area, if I have time.”
What makes you happy in life? - “Being with the people that I love.”
Where do you want to be in five years from today? - “In a city that I like with my friends and working on something that I enjoy, like helping people and hopefully working for an NGO or something like that.”
Why are you in the DMV? - “I am in the DMV for school. I go to Georgetown University.”
What makes you happy in life? - “What makes me happy in life is being able to see other people happy and experiencing new things.”
Where do you want to be in five years from today? - “In five years from today, I will either be teaching English abroad or a PHD student.”
Why are you in the DMV? - “I am in the DMV area because I go to Georgetown University and also to explore new things and places because I am from San Francisco.”
What makes you happy in life? - “Being able to spend time with the people I love and having a sense of community.”
Where do you want to be in five years from today? - “In five years from now, I will be finishing up law school and just be moving forward in life.”
Why are you in the DMV? - “I was attracted to DC because it is the center of politics and making a difference in the world and also shaping its vision for the future.”
