A Euphoria Women's Market Spotlight: Up.Scaled
Sophie Averza
Sophie Averza didn’t start Up.Scaled because resale was trending. She started it because she realized she could do it herself.
Sophie chose the name because she wants every piece she sells to “scale up” someone’s style. Not in a loud way. Not in a costume way. But in a way that feels intentional, confident, and personal.
She first launched the brands’ Instagram page mid-COVID, like many creatives experimenting with what the internet could offer. Momentum faded. Motivation dipped. The idea sat quietly. Then in the summer of 2025, something shifted.
While visiting a friend in New York, Sophie asked for an opportunity to source clothing for a consignment shop in the East Village. That moment clarified everything. If she could source for someone else, why not source for herself?
Up.Scaled was revived with a sharper focus.
Unlike many resellers who begin online, Sophie built her foundation through in-person markets. She is a firm believer in vending. For her, connection is the currency. Meeting shoppers face-to-face, watching someone light up over a skirt or a perfectly worn graphic tee, builds trust that no algorithm can manufacture.
Her curation leans naturally toward Y2K, but not because she chased a niche. The pieces reflect her own closet: whimsical tanks, vintage tees, mini and maxi skirts, detailed belts, statement purses, funky shoes, patterned sweaters, and denim layered on denim. The racks feel cohesive without feeling repetitive.
Sophie digs for everything herself. She prefers to inspect each piece in person — checking fabric weight, scanning material tags, evaluating stitching. The learning curve was steep at first. She had to teach herself pricing, brand value, and what truly constitutes quality. Trial and error sharpened her instincts.
One of her favorite memories remains a simple sentence from a shopper: “You’re the only booth I shopped at today.” In a market of more than 60 vendors, that affirmation meant everything. It confirmed that curation rooted in authenticity resonates.
Looking ahead, Sophie envisions a storefront or expanding into styling and bundle creation. She hopes Up.Scaled encourages more women to open consignment fronts and normalize secondhand as the first choice, not the alternative.
On February 28, Up.Scaled joins the Euphoria Women’s Market — a space where women vendors champion one another. For Sophie, it’s not just about selling clothes. It’s about scaling up community, too.
